Default has anyone done a custom headliner?

or recovered their current headliner?

the one in the sabre is starting to fall down and i'm always one for customizing, not repairing. you know, upgrade whenever possible. i'd been thinking of using one of those poster flags, hemmed into some kind of fabric. does anyone know exactly how much fabric is nessiarry (dimentions) and or where to get the thin padding?

Didn't Plurr do a Gucci or LV headliner? Or maybe it was just other accents in the car.

Custom headliners are cool and are a lot of work...If you want to do it measure out the roof dimensions and allow 6" or more overlap for the edges, because you have to account for the curvature of the headliner and the wrap around the edges...be careful when removing the roof handles, because they tend to break if you are not careful (and sometimes break when you are careful). Make sure you have another car to drive to go pick up more glue or other things you might need while doing this project. Get someone to help you when working on it, because it will be so much harder doing it by yourself. There are tricks to getting the headliner out of the car, the shops usually try to remove a windshield to get it out because this is a sure way to remove the headliner without breaking it, but there are other ways to get the headliner out of doors and things using a lot of thought and scary bending. I did not break my headliner when removing it and was able to get it in and out of the front driver door. It did bend and I was scared of it snapping but it made it in and out of the car okay. Be careful what type of glue you use and what consistency it is, because if it is too runny, and you add too much, it can run through the fabric. If you have a sunroof try not to use really thick material to do the headliner because it was really hard for me using thick suede to get the rubber ring around the sunroof to go back on. You will also have to take apart the sunroof if to do the shade if you have one. It is not a project for the faint at heart when working on cars, but if you want some more tips just ask and I will try to help you out.
