Ground effects moulding
HI there- Im not sure if this is posted in the right area or not (please move moderators if not). Its been such a long time since I've been here
Love my Bonne- but she has an ugli side that is driving me mental at the moment, well since the begining of winter actually.
The center ground effects moulding below the doors has come loose, and is bending the otehr two pieces with it. the problem, is that the pins in the moulding are not staying in the holes in the frame. GM uses a small plastic or nylon washer that is elongated into the frame to hold the pin in. With all the years and salt that these have seen they have literally fallen apart. Any Bonne that I have seen in the yard, has the same problem.
I went to a GM dealer, and they wanted 14.50 for one of these washers with a minimum of 5 to purchase. Obviously Im not going to buy these from GM. But I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem, and what they used in place of thes stupidly expensive pieces.
Can anyone help with this? Ive tried part stores as well- they have ones that are close, but the hole in the frame would have to be modified, which I really don't want to do.
any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
thank-you.

I would use RTV or superglue myself. My reasoning is that I would hope that I would not need to replace them again.
other than that, i can't offer much help
Some of the newer SSEi'* might have used the same things for their molding.

Hmmm..Ive noticed that the newer SSE/SSEi'* have used similar pieces. Im going to have to go to the yard I think. I want to avoid using adhesives for the time being, as I wast to be able to remove the pieces again. Thanks for the thought though.

Bill some pics for you:
the uglyness
Pin and sleeve- hard to see- but its green
another angle. Most of these greem sleeves are missing. This moulding is not being held together by much.
