Is there a way (since I believe they're clear..) to put an LED and the light will flow through the edges of the plastic?

yes prolly but that involves tearing off the face of the CC, and then getting in there....

I have only seen white/clear ***** on b'villes. Red ***** would usually be found on the Grand Am/Prix'* and their ***** are lit. ...I thinky

Hmmm could a person change parts between the two ...to light them up???

you are correct...in theory it could be done....wiring differences...i dunno

I have a set of ***** with the red pointer that I took off of a 94 SLE. Also, my aunt has a 96 GP, and the light is inside the front of the CC box unit thingy.
