Default Can Aluminum Wheels Be Painted?

Hey guys, I have a 99 Bville with the standard five stars. They're clearcoated aluminum, I was wondering if aluminum itself can be painted because I thought it would be cool to leave the lip aluminum and paint the rest of the rim black. I think that would look wicked with a silver car.

Use Epoxy Wheel paint. Made for that purpose. Carefully mask off the 'dimples' where your lugnuts go in. You don't want paint in there.

HALF of the ppl in the Regal club do that? Good Lord, ALL owners of Regals here are old geezers, let alone painted rims. There'* a club for Regals? Interesting. Expoy wheel paint you say? Hmm, will check on that.

Oh a quick question, how do I get the clearcoat off, do I sandblast it or just sand continuously? I tried to use the techinfo and it keeps giving me totally unrelated results.
And has anyone done this before?

Thanks for all your help

HEY! I take offense to that I miss my 2000 Regal GSE. I got it when I was 19. I was looking into painting the rims on it (As I was on the site when the first guy decided to do it) but I didn't have the car long enough. The site is regalgs.org by the way, and there are a lot of young guns there just like here.
