Clearances for Exhaust Mod
I'm looking to install an exhuast perferably with Tips, and i'm looking for some ideas to get the clearance i need to fit my tailpipes striaght back with room for tips aswell. I've got an 94 SLE so my bumber doesn't have the cut-outs most SSEi cars have. I've talked to a few mechanics about it and the general consensus was that I'd need to cut room in the exsiting bumber. Another option I thought of, you might already know the awnser, is changing out my bumber with that of an SSE or SSEi if the bolt patterns match up. Anyway, if you have any advice or options that I could use, I'd like to hear them, otherwise my only real option for the exhaust is to angle my tailpipes down, and I really don't want that.

This was more performance related than looks, but it'* similar in that he also doesn't have the cutouts. I THINK this is what you were getting at. Sorry if I'm not on track.
Changing only the back bumper, by the way, will not match up with the rest of the body cladding.

Why not just run the tips under the bumper? There'* no real reason other then aesthetics to have cutouts, some cars look better without them as well.
It could be tucked up higher even more, but I'm going to have it re done up this summer most likely..
If you use the crossflow mufflers from the F bodys, you can have it higher up, and then have the 90* angles bend down from the muffler to tip level...
If you catch my drift..

That'* pretty much how my car looks now, except you can't see the muffler underneath. What I did was I angled the exhaust tips down, then when I strapped the exhaust pipes to my rear bumper bars, it helped to hold the muffler up high enough so that you can't see my muffler from behind.

Hmm are your exhaust tips still angled down, because I'm going for more of a straight back, and still have the muffler hidden. If that can't be done I'll have to use tips with an angle to them.
