Default Engine painting question

I'm going to be doing a UIM/LIM/valve cover gasket job in the near future, and while I have it stripped down that far I'd like to paint the valve covers and probably the new UIM. I've done some searching, and the few painted engine parts I found on here used high temp engine paints. Has anyone ever tried a plastic dye paint? In my mind, dying would be more permanent, but I am not sure if the heat would affect the dye.
