Default Hood Insulation

On my 00 ssei can I safely remove the fuzzy insulation without worrying about the hood blistering from heat or anything else. Can I or should I put the reflective stick on panels in its place. I am starting to clean up my engine bay and that insulation is sticking to everything

Wouldn't the insulation actually hold heat in the engine bay?? I am curious on this one as well.

Actually, I notice a lot hotter temps in my engine bay since mine was taken out. I haven't had any ill effects on paint yet but I am a little worried about it. New one costs $40 or so at the dealer. You can find it at other online parts stores but it costs a lot to ship because of the size so it really doesn't make it worth it.

I think I am going to try and take mine off tomorrow. A little heat wouldnt hurt right now becuase I am actually throughing the code ( non sufficient engine heat) per Advance Autos scanner ( I dont have an aeroforce yet). I did actually notice that when I took my side covers off under the hood ( the rubber seals from hood to firewall, that i started throughing this code and my temp is below 180 usually around 165 with a 180 thermostat.

If you're talking about the seals along the back (windshield) edge of the hood, don't do that. Vapors and fumes from the engine bay will be sucked right into your air intake at the base of the wipers and into the cabin.

I had broken the tabs when I took them off to re-install my strut tower brace. Then I noticed that the snow by the opening were those seals used to be melt quicker, so I left them off figuring it was acting like a vent from engine heat. If it is dangerous though because of fumes I will put back in . Thanks Wilwren
