De-Chroming an SE
I've browsed the forums but didn't find much in the way of de-chroming a 2000+ SE (door, front and rear trim and grille chrome) I don't think peeling off the chrome portion of the trim would look right with the deep impression it would leave. If the plastic chrome is sanded and primed properly, could you paint it body color with good results? Do you think it would last? Messed around a little with a shot of the rear of my SE. I welcome any suggestions/opinions.

if you get 2002+ bumper covers, they do not have the chrome trim on them, however, they have a slightly different style to them (i personally like the 00-01 better) The door trim panels are just stuck on and can be removed rather easily

Yah, I think I may do it. It would look sportier without the chrome for sure. I'm just wondering if the paint would adhere very well...and if it did adhere, for how long.
You can check out the new Blazertech 3200'* in the last pics BTW.

Remember... You will have that grove around the car still.
and if you remove it tp paint it Im not sure how well it will
stick back on.
or how good are you to tape it off?
Leave it.

No, I definitely leave it on the car. It does not look too difficult to tape off. I'd probably do one door first and see how it goes. If it doesn't turn out well, I'm out a little bit of cash for some new door moulding.

We had a '93 purple/grey, grey/purple whatever, with chrome trim. The trim was delaminnating anyway, so I took an x-acto blade to the top layer and let the grey base of the trim show through, turned out ok, but I think Gumball has the best idea, leave it, it'll still be one of the prettiest Bonnys in Boone County.

Yah, I'll probably end up leaving it alone. I'm always looking for another project to do (within reason) and am running out of ideas! I've cleared the front and rears, installed driving lights, installed a spoiler, K&N, de-badged the rear, installed a factory dual exhaust system...I'm jonesin' for some '02-'03 17" chrome 5-spokes now.

Yah, I'm sure I confused a lot of people when I cut the factory tips off and just left it but I like the subtle look. I must be getting old.
I pretty much decided to leave the chrome as-is. Just a thought I had.
