Default Lights,lights, and more lights...

OK, I know you want pics, but I don't have the ability - sorry . Here'* what I have done and what'* in the works. Tell me if I'm weird, or just OCD about custom lighting.

I have run the power lines into the doors for courtesy lights that will replace the red lenses on my 01 Bonnie. Just have to get my hands on the clear 00 door lights. Here'* what is cool... I made my own little lights in the bottom of the outside mirrors that shine down on ground outside the door. They are not a perfect fit and finish, but I made my own light out of clear doo dads I found and some small bulbs that fit inside of them. Caulked 'em up and voila - little outside courtesy lights that work, look pretty cool, and serve a purpose.

Next, I know you want pics - sorry, I did old school opera lights in the back door windows. I masked off a section of the small stationary windoe and painted it with black paint. Then, I removed the slim piece of masking tape that is to become the light "lens" and painted it with just a mist of white paint. Now this is the tricky part - I soldered wires to a mini bulb and used caulk to hold it in place behind the white "lens". Out from the paint just a little bit so it won't rub. (I actually used a piece of clear contact paper to keep the paint safe) Then a coupe of self adhesive electic cord hiders painted black, I strip of painted cardboard to fit in between the cord holders, and tada! It looks factory from the outside and just the right amount of cheesey old school luxury. I left out some details, but you prob get the idea. (And it took me many hours to do this)

And my last project I am working on is cornering lights for my 01 baby. (This thing is gonna look like a disco when I'm done ) I have cornering lights and frames from an old T-bird that should look pretty good with the black masking of the factory front lenses. The frame will cover the hole I cut, and the light will mount from the back. As for wiring, I was hoping to use a twilight sentinel unit to serve as a delay timer to use the flashing of the signal and convert it to a steady signal, but I can't seem to reverse engineer the unit as it uses a computer ship to function. Anyway, I will have to mount microswitches on the column that the turn lever will actuate. Then, using a little clever relay work, I will connect the back up lights so that the cornering lamps will come on when I put it in reverse and when I use the remote opener. It'* gonna be slick, I think

I know, no pics. but, maybe one day I will get someine to post some for me!

Sounds pretty cool, can't wait to see pics. the 00+ Devilles have cornering lights and most of them have twilight so if you found some of those, the wiring wouldn't be as bad *assumes*

I tried for days with that twilight idea and there are too many wires and options for what does what. (like 12 of them) I tried three different units and melted one chip till it burned! I wish I could make it work, but I think the easiest thing is to have ugly micro-switches mounted around the turnsignal lever. I will try to post pics eventually!

Well, still no pics. But I did install the cornering lights and I must say they look nearly factory! Work like a dream too. Just a shame they are the cornering lights out of a Ford "Blunderbird" Just kiddin' - Iliked my 88 Turbo poop.
