ok so i have started prepping and painting my parts i pulled from the yard to repair my bonny. ok so i could not afford to have it painted untill after the winter so i decided to go the cheaper way... but it looks real sweet and amazing up front. ok here is what i done.
1- sanded everything with a 60 then 150 then 240 grit.
2- then primed with a special primer filler then adhesive clear primer after that
3- then wet sand with a 600 fine grit
4- then layed down the base coat, then second coat.
5- then layed down 2 coats of crystal clear coat enamal.
6-let sit dry in upstairs garage sealed off to dry for 5 days.

o.k the bumper has been sanded and needs some more bondo work b4 it gets primed.





now the fender was sanded primered and painted with 1 coat of paint only (no claer coat yet) still needs second coat of paint but looks sweet






now the hood has been sanded, primered, painted twice and claered only once so far (it still needs one more coat of clear coat enamal) also note that there are no streaks on the hood what so ever its only the lspot lights right above it reflecting shadows of some kind and makes it look streaked and a lil blurry. but its real nice..













o/k now i want everyones opinipon'* on this. do you think it will look like ( sugar honey ice tea) or do you think it will look good untill i get it painted next summer.?

how does that paint color match up with the rest of the car?

i did something similar to what you did, and i would put at least 2 more coats of clear coat on just to be safe and once it dries try to polish it somewhat to try and get rid of some of the streakyness, i still need to do this on my truck but it doesnt look that bad anyways

Looks friggin good and it would look even better if you used automotive grade paint. Krylon is junk IMO Duplicolor would given you a much more superior finish. I still say you did a hell of a job to make it look so damn good.

It'* tough to say until it'* on the car. I believe you will suceed in it looking good enough to get by til you paint w/o a question.

its looking good so far. I think you could get away with it for a little while... If your just waiting till summer you should be fine.

yeah, I would say it'll be good enough to get you by. I spray painted my front bumper with just a single coat and it seemed to work fine to get me by, and the color was pretty close. Made it good enough for pictures at least.

The hood looks like there is some orange peel, but it could just be the lighting.

Can't wait to see the final product

like i have stated the hood looks like it has streaks and is blurry because of spot lights 6 feet above it reflecting some kind of shadows..

and to tell you the truth. i recently did my mirrorws (both) with the same color paint and same process about 1 month ago as both of my housings were busted.. so i took a green one and red one and sanded and painted them and for the last month none of my friends can tell any difference execpt my mirrors dont have any scratches as opposed to the rest of the car . im pretty nice with painting and matching colors but if i had a compressor and a piant gun it would have been 110% better.. imo

Hell I am still surprised you found all the parts you needed, paint is a bonus. I really thought it would take longer to get your car back to good. Your doing a great job

suprised i got it all.? i too ka 1 1/2 hour ride to the biggest junk yard in the world just because i was 100% certain i would come home with everything in 1 trip..

and for the paint.. im pretty nice with a paint can as i used to paint all my friends bikes for $25 a pop when i was like 15 years old. i just really wish i had a compressor and paint gun.. i would have done the whole car..

o.k so i noticed that there are alot of lil hairs on the hood in the clear coat i put on .
my question is can i sand the hood with a real fine high grade sand paper to get all that stuff off so i can re clear it.?
and if so what grit would you say i have to use.. 600 grit or 1500 grit.. i dont want to take off the white paint of all the clear if i dont have too.. its just some damn lil hairs from like a sweater or something.

I think you could probably buff it out real quick. I would wet sand with 1000, let it dry and re clear it after buffing.
