they should mount in the same area.

but note they are different. and the area would be HARD to transplant becasue the 96-99 amber sections does not go all the way to the end

Good call - I didn't notice that right away. So yeah, unless we can get someone to custom mold something I'm gonna keep dreaming.
I might need to investigate the clearance issue with the trunk for the whole tail light swap though.
Anyone else have exact measurements comparing the two to know for sure?

All I'm curious about is the outer piece though - specifically how the highlighted red will match with my body and the center section with the "PONTIAC" and reverse lights currently on my car. I'm not looking to do anything with the parts with the yellow X'*. Maybe that clarifies my question.

Sorry for dragging it on. I just wanted to be sure we're understanding what each other means.

if you COULD swap the outer section..that would fix our problem since the turn signal is located there right?
