Allowable Wheel Size
What'* the maximum wheel size allowed for my '97 SSEi? Stock tires are P225 60 16 and the rims are 16x7. If I use the same tires, what'* the largest aftermarket rim I can get, 17", 18", 19"? I'm thinking of getting chrome rims.

I could be wrong, but I belive that'* as big as you can go. I have teh same car and asked at a tire shop. I was told cant go any wider. It'* a clearence thing.
As for the wheel size, that I'm not sure on. I belive you can go up to 19 as long as the tire size is the same.

I think you are confused. If you go to a higher size rim, then you need to get that same size tire. So you wont be able to use your stock tires.

I don't know of any 22'* on the 92-99 body style, but 22'* fit on the 2000+
Go to: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to check tire sizes
a 235/55/R17 (stock 00 tire) is very close to a 245/30/R22... 2.2% off

I think he means keeping the stock overall tire height.
I believe the largest you can go that way is a 20", 245/35R20. Make sure you don't go bigger than 8" wide on the rim though.
