Aluminum can be welded.

I understand that, but not with our equipment

Looks like is should be functional. I would have left a 2" wide strip along the back edge.

If you can't weld any support beams, how about bolt on?

There are panel bonding adhesives that are very strong.

No, time for me to step in here Up to stage II you don't have to do any modification of the the hood. Stage III ZZP or W-body store you do though. Mine is 2.25" total and has a clearance of a few millimeters. I had to turn the 85mm MAF down sideways for it to fit and the top of the CAI hits just barely, but I am using a thrasher CAI and this wouldn't be an issue with a FWI. So no hood cutting for me. Even if you did have to cut it out there is enough space under there to not need a cowl induction. But it does look cool

OK, that pic makes things much clearer. What I was suggesting was leaving about 4" of the rear edge of the original hood. That would give you all the strength of the original frame, allow a ton of airflow, and wouldn't interfere with even the biggest IC. As it is, I hope you saved the original piece you cut out. Slice 4" off the back of it and use some plate aluminum strips to bolt it back in. It still won't be as strong as the original hood, but it will help alot.

No clearance was actually needed for my 1.9 I/C to fit as long as the bolt on top of the blower that holds the sight sound cover is ground down. I of course didn't do this the first time I punched it so the bolt raked a nice hold in the underside of the hood. I would suspect the same would be for the 2.25 I/C out there but I haven't measured them myself.

I like the cowl.
Where is the pic of the hood installed on the car?

Have you taken any temp readings to see if under the hood is cooler?

Well the Slickbonny lives like 45 minutes away from me, I dont see him much so I never got to take pictures...when we dropped the hood off it was really late, and light was an issue...and not sure if he did anythin to check on the temps...i'll wait and see if he chimes in on that one
