Wow, this '55 Safari wagon on eBay looks so amazing that I had to share the link! Not a Bonneville or Star Chief I know...

I don't think they perfected water injection and they never thought of having a radiator overflow container yet, so this would be the Windshield Washer Fluid Container. I wonder how many of these shattered in the winter?

Gotta love the hood ornament! I read that there was an option on some of those old cars, it was for a small bulb to be installed inside of that big ol Indian head ornament so it'd light up! Very cool stuff!

I don't think it was an option as much as the trim level you ordered. That said, I think my father'* 52 Pontiac had an Amber Indian that lit up. But then again it might have been just a chromed (non-illuminating) Chief Pontiac.

In 1955 the Pontiac Indian started to lose the amber color and started to morph into a jet plane and in 1956 Chief Pontiac reigned no more as the hood ornament. Just the forward wing of that jet plane hood ornament lit up.

In 1959 when the "Wide Track" Pontiacs came out, there were no more hood ornaments and Pontiac adopted the current logo.
