Welcome to GM Forum! It'* always great to get a classic car owner in here.

I'm no expert on the classics, so let'* start with the basics. How does your ATF look on the dipstick? Full and red? Fill it if it'* low and change it if it'* not the right color. You might find some more clues in the transmission pan.

SGP358 is our resident transmission expert, and proud owner of a beautiful 1960 Bonneville (last month'* Car of the Month winner, even). Hopefully he pops in.

It'* a 4 speed Dual Coupling Hydramatic. I also own a 64 Bonneville Vista 4 door hardtop too.

It sounds like you will need an overhaul if the fluid is full. Where are you located?
