Default 67 bonneville wont start

Could use some assistance. 67 bonneville. Don't see the fuel spraying in the carb when attempting to start. Replaced the fuel filter, but problem still exsists. Will be changing the fuel fiter next. The problem started after I had a local Firestone change the rear shocks. Filled up the tank, and went on a long 10 hr drive to enjoy the new rear shocks. On my return, the car died. No fuel getting to the carb. trailered the car back home. When I got it off the trailer it started. Funny thing was, the fuel gauge read full the whole time. The gauge used to work. So-- I Checked the fuel line(ok), and replaced the fuel filter. I'm going to replace the fuel filter next, then if prob still exsists, get rebuild for ne fuel sending unit. Looking for easiest way to get my baby running.

To test the pump, couldn't you unhook one side of the filter and pump into some type of container?

That is my next step Bill. Was going to disconnect the fuel line at the carb, and pump the gas pedal to check if the fuel is making it to the carb. If there is no fuel coming thru, will replace the fuel pump. Thanks for the reply ! Checking tonight.

Pumping the pedal probably won't do anything if you don't have any fuel in the bowl for the accelerator pump to pump.

I think you need to crank it over to actuate the pump off the motor....you should be a manual pump unless someone changed some stuff up a bit right?

Right. Manual pump. Will crank the motor with the line off at the carb. If no fuel, then will at least know I should start w/replacment of the fuel pump. (then on to the gas tank, which I don't want to do till next summer).

Have a feeling that the "sock" or the "float" on the fuel sending unit may be failing. My gas gauge had previously worked, but after getting new rear shocks installed, the guy'* at Firestone may have banged on the rear end enough to dislodge some possible rusty material in the gas tank. The tank is "not" rusted thru. Still in good shape. The fuel line from the tank to the pump does not show any leaks. (Note: My starting problem didn't start until Firestone put the new rear shocks on the car)

Are you sure there is fuel in the tank? The first thing to do is pour some fuel in there to make sure it actually has some.
Otherwise the starting problem sounds like either a plugged fuel line or a failed pump.
Ames has both:
