i know im on borrowed time already, but would it do any good to swap the bearings to buy some time before the motor gives up? i just need some time before i can get another car for the wife to drive. I have a geo lined up for 200 bucks that needs a little work. as of right now i have lucas oil stabilizer and 20/50 oil to put in to hopefully buy some time. any input?

also when it does go, i thought about a supercharged 3.8 swap any hints or walkthroughs on this?

It depends on the bearings. If you haven't spun any of them, you might be able to buy new ones. But more than likely, the crank might have to be reworked or replaced. Ive' spun bearings before. Much cheaper to get a junkyard engine than it is to do a crank kit rebuild.

L36 L67 swap. Doable, but its alot of work. I just did it in my Bonneville couple weeks ago.
Gonna need: engine, transmission, half-shafts, PCM, or a tuning program. List goes on.

Yea, basically. It took me about 3 days to do it. But if I was just swapping L36 for L36, I would have done it in a day. Billboost can have it done in like 45 minutes.

probably the best choice for now is to stay stock. can you swap the 3.8 through the top? i have lots of tools available, engine hoist, all that. also my dad has a boom truck thats very handy.

apparently i forgot my engine is out of an 03 and they updated the mounts to the top side ones. should be about the same right? you guys rock!

Whatever is on your existing engine, transfer over to your new engine. Include ALL sensors. Sensors changed over the years and may not be compatible. Just to cover yourself. Once the engine is installed, that rear knock sensor is a PITA to remove.

Also, remove your oil pressure sensor prior to removing the engine. Once the new engine is installed, put it back in. I can't count the number of times I broke that thing just by pulling the engine out. It always hits the powersteering pump!

well i made the choice to run her till she died. and she did exactly that last night in the walgreens parking lot. odd twist it was the transmission. the knock sound is completely gone. after the car sits for a bit you can drop it in gear and move it about 100 yards or so, then you stop moving altogether. anyone know if its a possible easy fix? im doubting it but you never know.

With so many things inside that trans that could break, its really hard to tell without tearing it apart.

About 6 years ago, the differential pin disintigrated itself and clogged the filter with shavings. I could go about the same distance and it would go "neutral". Had this weird sound coming from the trans. It was the pump cavitating due to loss of trans fluid. The pin went because of all the one wheel wonders I was doing LOL.
