Unhappy replacing engine gaskets

I want to replace all the gaskets on a 350 sb.
What gaskets do I need to use gasket cement?
Which ones don't need it?
Do I coat both sides of the gaskets?
Thanks.

What year is the 350? The small block has a vast amount of options of gaskets to choose from. If it is a early block I suggest staying away from cork gaskets and use good Felpro fiber and silicone gaskets. I like to use a thin coat of perm-a-tex aviation sealant on the fiber gaskets and use a little RTV in the corners of the oil pan gasket and use RTV on the ends of the valley on the intake manifold. If your replacing the head gaskets you don't use anything on them.

i agree. i use permatex ultra black on the intake manifold end gaskets and throw away the ones you get in the kit.

The serial numbers are gone. Per the casting number, '77-'79.
Which side of the gasket should I apply the sealant?
Thanks.

I like to use sealant on both sides of the fiber gaskets. I use a little permatex high tack on the valve cover gaskets to keep them in place on the valve cover side.

Go to your local chevy dealer and pick up some of their gray silicone commonly known as Gms. Everything that'* cleaned properly the gms wont leak. It lasts a lot longer than permatex, its tackier and sets up in 2 mins.
