Looking at a 2003 Monte Carlo SS
I am looking at a 2003 Monte Carlo SS and so far I am looking forwards to buying it.It is clean with 80,000 miles on it and taken care of very well.Has the series II 3800 and seen the biggest problem was fixed, the upper intake.Seen the bill and the upper intake was replaced a couple weeks ago.I did test drive right and does not shift right. My mechanic Gerald hooked up his scan tool,a Tech 2 and the 1811 code comes up.My mechanic looked it over, told me it looked good and said a couple solenoids in the transmission needed to be replaced will fix it.I like the car and the seller will not come down on the price with the transmission not shifting right, wants $6,500 for it.I offered $5,000.00 and he said no.This seller stands on this price and considering lowering the price. This was on Friday and we talked today, still no sale and lowered the price to $6,000.00.I gave him the $5,000.00 offer and still said no.This seller is becoming a pita and not considering lowering the price although it has the transmission problem.

i just had the whole trans rebuilt on my bonnie which is the same for 900 total, thats what hes thinking probably. hes already come down 500 from what the thinks its worth. he might take 5500.
I hope you get it i love montes. i had a 03 ls i got less than a year old, put over 170k never stranded me anywhere. it was the best dd/longtrip car ive had. ive had lots to compare to.

I talked to him and offered him $5,500.00 for it.He will think about it and call me back tommorrow. My mechanic says the transmission does not need to be rebuilt, the solenoids in valve body need to be replaced and he has worked on a few 4T65Es.The fluid looked good,he pulled the dipstick checking this and did not smell like burned motor oil.I like the car and Monte Carlo is one Chevy model I like.My mechanic even said it has the good engine, the 3800 series II which will not die if taken care of very well.He saw the upper intake which is a common problem was taken care of.I did research on the P1811 code, long adapt and maxinum shift.Least my mechanic says I am smart,I drive Chevys and he is a diehard GM fanatic too.I have plans with the car if I buy it if the seller takes my offer, getting chevy bowtie stickers on the back window including the boy urinating on the Ford emblem.

I wanted a 2000 to 2003 model year. The 2004 and 2005 will get me in trouble,I have a "lead" foot sometimes. The seller just called me and took my $5,500.00 offer, pay the seller tommorrow and off to my mechanic to have the solenoids replaced inside the valve body area of the transmission.Seller decided to sell it to me tonight to get done with it and is paying for the repairs done part of the deal. Was the seller'* ex wife'* car and he got it in the divorce settlement since the car was in his name on the title.

Thanks and I call my insurance company tommorrow too to put insurance on it include getting a plate on it.My husband Robby thought I was nuts buying this Monte Carlo,he sees I am a proud car nut and fully supportive.Hopefully I drive it on Thursday or Friday to work.I made a deal with the seller too, noticed my accent and I am cajun originally from Louisana. He never tried alligator and told him I would cook some alligator meat for him to try for being good to me at the end.
