Parking Brake Adjustment
So I set out to adjust my parking brake today, since it'* stopped holding on hills. I park my car on a slope, and it'* always a little difficult shifting from park into gear due to the brake not holding. Hoping I'm not ruining my transmission doing this.
Anyways, I followed the directions in this link, with the exception of using the tool since I don't have one. I did it the hard way, and adjusted the *** until I felt resistance while spinning it, then I backed the adjustment gear back out a notch or two until I felt no resistance.

The only part I couldn't do was adjust the equalizer. That thing is rusted tight. I hit it with some PB blaster. I may reapply the blaster and go back out and try again, but my time was limited today.
So, my parking brake is still not working, and the parking brake pedal goes all the way to the floor with little effort. I think the only resistance I feel is the ratcheting in the pedal.
Is there another adjustment to be made somewhere? Is there a tension adjustment somewhere near the pedal or anything?
I had the dealership adjust it once while it was still in warranty, and after they did, the pedal was hard to push past 3/4 of the way to the floor. I Can't really remember when it started getting easier to push to the floor, but I'm pretty sure it was a gradual thing, and not suddenly like as if the cable snapped or something.

Sounds like the cable is stretched. The slack adjuster on the cable is probably so rusted up, its not even worth the effort to try and adjust it. I say replace it all. Remember, only push the parking brake cable down far enough to hold the car. Ramming it to the floor only stretches the cable.
