Default 4x4 problems

Hey everyone my brother'* 93 chevy silverado'* 4x4 fuse is instantly blowing when we replace it. it is a manual 4x4 transfer case with an automatic trans. I am wondering if it is the locking mechanism in the front diff. Any input would help thanks.

Sounds liek a shorted wire. Start checking for any plugs in the transfer case, transmission. Something may have taken a hit or been pinched.

Look for any pinched wires. You may have also gotten some snow jammed up there and knocked something loose.

My bro said he looked but didn't see anything to obvious but he did unplug a sensor which I will get a pic posted soon. when unplugged the fuse didn't blow. So when I get some time today I will be testing the harness for a short and trying to figure out the how to test the sensor. So slow progress plus I need to hurry later in the week is more snow. I'll keep yoiu posted.

If unplugged and no blow, the harness is fine. The sensor is shorted. You should be able to check for continuity between ground and each terminal.

My bro found a new sensor and I didn't get around to testing the harness yet. I'm still trying to find a new job maybe tomorrow. I do appreciate the input.

Not a problem. Just make sure to let us know if the problem was corrected.
