Crank sensor wires burned, where do I get new ones?
Hello,
My 1990 Corsica LTZ have been running like crap lately. Once it gets warmed up it won't runt at all. Let it sit over night and it fires up again. I have found that the wires leading from the crank position sensor to the ignition coil have been burned and are grounding on the engine and so they are probably not able to do their job in communicating between the ignition module and the crank sensor.
Anyways, where can I buy new wires that will fit? I live in Sweden but I can order online if they will ship the wires over-seas.
Richard

That would involved buying a whole new harness. Good luck finding one for a 1990. Good news is, just about any shop on the planet can replace that section of wiring for FAR less than a custom made new harness.

If it is the V-6 I think the crank sensor harness is just a 2 wire harness that goes straight to the ICM. You could simply make a new one.RockAuto Mobile Catalog

I think these are the two pigtails and you just need to get the old one off and match the plugs and length.

If it was me. I think I would do some forensic investigation to try and determine why the wires burned. Could be the coil pack or whatever they go to may have a short or intermittent short. Or the same if they go to the PCM . If the burnt wires are from an external source such has a hot engine part they need to be rerouted. I would also recommend a new sensor as opposed to repairing the wiring. That'* just me though. You may see it differently.

Thanks a million for all answers! I will look into all of this. My friend just bought a 1982 Opel Rekord 1,8S from Germany so I will have to help him out with that one for a while now and probably won't have too much time for the corsica. The problem with the Corsica is that I can't really get to anything, it'* so crowded in the engine bay.
PS I have the LTZ. The suspension is actually not very nice at all. Bumpy. Did the power steering in the LTZ come with less boost too (it'* a little heavy for my taste)?

look for one of these suspention package rpo'*, not sure where in a corsica but often if you want a soft ride and your car has fe2 or fe3 stuff going to fe1 shocks and springs and its likely the rack is different too.
FE1 - suspension, soft ride
FE2 - suspension, ride and handling
FE3 - suspension, sport

Im assuming this is the 3.1. If your wanting more room to work with, unbolt both the engine dogbone motor mounts and shift the engine foreward. There should be a small hole in the mount, slide your bolt through the bracket and that hole. Make sure the car is in neutral also. This will give a lot of room to work with.
Also on the connector if the connector body itself is ok and there is enough undamaged wire, I would just replace the wiring with heat shrink connectors.
