Default To bench bleed or not to bench bleed?

I bought a new brake master cylinder for my 79 Impala.
When I install it, I'll be using a Powerbleeder to bleed the system.

When using a Powerbleeder, do I still need to bench-bleed the master cylinder first before installing it on the car?

Thanks

If his car has ABS and the complete system has air in it, he will need something to acvitate the ABS controller to bleed it.

Hence my question about ABS.

I guess this is the point where I point out it is a '79 Impala, as listed in the original post.

I would bench bleed it, better safe than sorry. With a lot of setups, the master cylinder mounts at a slight angle, and there is a high point usually with no way to get it out.

Just to be safe, I bench bled it.

Thanks for the responses.
