Default Caprice won't start

Put a new battery in but car has been sitting nearly a year and won't start. Doesn't even try to fire. It has the 327 port injection engine. Is there any way to get some fresh fuel to the motor like we used to in the old days through the carb? The car ran fine before it was parked.

Quick test to see if its fuel/ignition related. Give a QUICK squirt of either into the carb. If it fires up and then stalls, its fuel related. Let us know how the either works.

The Chevy has port fuel injection. That'* why I asked if that can be done, since presumably, it doesn't have a carb. Anyway, I pulled the cover off the middle and could see two Venturi that opened with the gas pedal. I squirted some fuel in and it would hit every time I did. So......I figure Ill keep it running by squirting fuel in, you know like we used to in carbs back in the day. She coughed back and singed my eyebrows.lol
I assume then that it is fuel related and the gas in the tank is rotten. I tried to get a small hose in the tank but couldn't. The cap is under the License plate. What now?

How much gas is in the tank now? If its less than 1/4, top it off with fresh gas, replace the filter and drain out as much as you can out of the lines.

tbi is likely what is on the car, throttle body inj looks like a carb with the injectors over top. port injection has big runners and a throttle body facing the front.

can you hear the pump turn on when you turn the key to run? it should come on for a couple seconds to prime the system

Yeah I know what Tbi looks like but this cover on the top of the engine says port fuel inj. The Venturi are facing the front like a blower and open when the pedal is depressed. Never listened for the pump tho.

I'm not sure either, you will just have to follow the fuel lines until you come to a big round thing.

This is a 1996 Chevy caprice classic with I think a 5.7(327?) v8 port fuel injection. Idrove it when it was bought and here'* what I did. Her son bought a new 302 boss mustang in '70. We took it to the local street strip. His boss did 104mph. The caprice did 100mph in the same distance. So that big old four door was fast. But the older his mom got the slower she drove. Finally she had to quit driving so it'* been sitting for a long time. I'll check to see if the fuel pump is working.
