99 chevy 3500 with 350 timing chain help
this truck jumped time got the timing cover off and chain was really lose and the marks on crank and cam sprockets were way off. about to put new sprockets and chain back on just wanted to make sure I'm right with putting the dot on the cam sprocket straight down and the mark and on the crank sprocket straight up so they are in line with each other ?

Correct...but. You have an interference engine. Which means, if out of time, your pistons hit your valves. Causing who knows what kind of damage to the valves, rockers, push rods, lifters and pistons. Right now, you probably need to worry about pulling heads.

got it back together today we can't get it to start. We got fire and we got fuel. checked compression got 100lbs on one cylinder on passenger side. checked it on driver side with a different gauge and it'* hitting 150 but immediately goes back to zero. I think that gauge might be bad cause I'm pretty sure they suppose to hold the high pressure until you press the release valve. but while turning it over its not popping or nothing just won't crank we checked fire, gas, and compression until we ran out of daylight. gonna get at it again tomorrow.

You need to pull all plugs and check for compression on each one. Not just one, but all of them.
