1999 Lumina 9C3 L67 swap thread..56K take a hike.
I figured a thread detailing the removal of the L67 and 4t65E-HD going through both , and reinstalling in my Lumina.
The victim who will be donating its organs to science and to further mankind'* Knowledge of building cars that GM should have built.
Picking up the donor 1999 Grand Prix GTP 173k on the dash.
Removing the L67
Trans autopsy
Short block inspection and start of refurbing the heads.Part 2
Part 3 of the block assy
Long block assembled and fitting out of all the exterior parts .
Sludge inside the lifter
Inside of the lifters were packed with some sludge.
Fished out the Boost control valve wiring from the GP harness so I can run them in My Lumina harness and go to the ECM

Now came the part of gathering up the Nerve to remove a perfectly good running L32 from my 9C3 .. It killed me to do it, but every time i drove it I longed for another 40 HP..lol
What a *****. Mainly because I couldn't get the Passenger CV axle out, i I took the axle out of the inner socket, but the socket just did want to run into the strut tower, and caused the trans to just barly sqeek past the MC and ABS unit, luckily I had my tilt a lift so i could tilt the front of the engine way up and just did get it out.

BTW this thing is a godsend, I've had it bout 14 years now and have lifted all kinda **** with it, its handy for lifting transmissions and being able to tilt them so you can let all the fluid drain out. and then lift it up onto the table for disassembly and then off the table when you are done. My back thanks me. LOL worth every penny.

Totally forgot to show what the Trans pan looked like when I drained the fluid from the Luminas 4t65E.
Trans tag. It comes back the correct date and code for a Police Lumina, so its got a full 121k on it.
Can anyone get the stall speed of this convertor, I have run across a wide variety of stall speeds most around 1500-1700 using the FLQB code, but using the 24208344 it has come up as over 2000 rpm stall.
and the Replacement convertor I bought for the 4T65e-hd is listed as 1700-2100 if I remember.
Original GTP convertor, I bought a reman using this JTFM code.
