Default help needed for 2001 impala

The check engine light is on and my OBDII diagnostic says that the fault is P1404 EGR closed position performance. I replaced the EGR valve, and still get the same fault.....Any ideas?

i would check for blockage in the egr port in the intake manifold and of course check the wiring itself and at the plug.

Interesting. I'd check the ground and 5 volt to the valve. The closed position only needs to be off by .29 volts to toss this code. The PCM is reading the actual position of the valve.
