a 92 would be a resistor in the key, you just take a ohm meter and read the resistance of the key, then you can put a resistor of the same value in the wires that go back to the security module. then you can use standard keys or columns or whatever you happen to be doing.

I am suspecting my VAT is not recognizing my factory original keys on my '92 Suburban. I was in the steering column replacing a blinker/signal switch, and now the car will not start, and the "security" light is remaining illuminated. The ignition turns the starter, and it attempts to start the engine, however, it acts as if it is not getting any fuel. Unfortunately the key does not have a visible pellet, and I believe it is hidden in the top of the key. I've contacted the dealership, and they were not helpful at all. How do I determine the OHM resistance without a visible pellet? I'd like to bypass the system, if possible, but I don't know what OHMs resistance to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John

I was just looking at a '93 owner'* manual for the Suburban, and oddly enough, there is no discussion of an anti-theft system of any kind.
If the '92 Suburban is equipped with anything factory, it'* likely the Pass-Key 2 system, which sounds as if it has already been bypassed if your key does not have the pellet. You will need to track down where the resistor pack has been installed on the truck and tear it apart. You can read the values of the resistors that way.
Passkey 3 has the transponder in the key, and was introduced years later.

I am not sure how you would have disturbed a VATS wire while doing the blinker switch, if you have VATS that is.
Did you see any orange wiring coming from the ignition switch while doing what you were doing?
This kind of wire.

Can you please confirm that this is in fact a '92 Suburban please? The video linked speaks of the PassKey 3 system which is not applicable from the factory to your listed model year.

Starting to think they may have a aftermarket remote starter installed, the key for a 92' Suburban should look nothing like that.
A 92' Suburban key should look like this.
