05 Cavalier front wheel bearing, again
Hello Everyone,
Looks like I need a new front wheel bearing again.
First it went at 70k km. Now the same side is going again at 126k km.
Any preferred brand, or this is just crapshoot?
Is the bearing the same for ABS and non-ABS cars?
Thanks, Peter

Timken or Moog, AC Delcos are good also, but cost a little more.
Are you trying to replace the bearing only, or the whole bearing/hub assembly?
The bearing its self should be the same on booth..

WilliamE, the bearing/hub is all one unit, you can't only replace the bearing itself......what I have seen is, some hub assemblies come as only ABS hubs.....so on cars that don't have ABS, they can be used, they just are not hooked up to a harness....

Ahhh, couldn't you press the bearing out on old ones back in the day?
I've always replaced the whole thing, but I thought you could press the bearings out and replace them..

Yes, you could press the bearings out and replace them back in the old days. Actually, the inner and outer races were pressed into the hub, and you could press them out and replace them. The bearings were separate from the races.

Ahhhh ok, I thought I seen my Great Grandfather do this on an old 76 or so Pontiac, I thought I remembered seeing him press the bearings out, grease new bearings and press them back in..
