Default The quirks of my car. Minor stuff.

1999 lesabre.
These things are not effecting its reliability or even my good opinion of the car, but do these sound familiar?

Suspension - on real cold days, going over a dip, there is noise in the back suspension. Almost like a grinding as the car goes up and down. A lube job did little to help.

Alternator - The colder the engine asnd temperature, the higher voltage on the gauge.
It is normal range, about 13 to 16 volts with engine running even over a 120° weather temp.

Cig lighter - On really hot days when the cab is very hot, the cigarette lighter will not stay seated when pushed in, I have to hold it in for it to get hot enough to light my smoke. (maybe the car is trying to tell me something) :?

Volts drop in gear - When put in drive or reverse - the voltage drops for a few seconds.

HArd acceleration - On hot days when the voltage is holding about 13.5 volts, if I hit the gas hard from a dead stop, the car shakes real hard the same way a clutch/manual does if the driver lets out the clutch too fast. Any other acceleration is smooth.

This may look like I am driving a POS, but the car is good, and these are just the little quirks. No major problems with it. Are these common in GM'*? I know, different car, but my taurus never did any of the above, not even anything resemblant of them.

it sounds like alot of your problems may be battery/voltage related.....our cars (H-Bodies) are very hard on alternators and batteries.....I was the first person to upgrade to the Delco 140amp Alt....I would also taking a look at the battery connections to make sure that they are not corroded

Your rear upper strut bushings are squeaking in the cold. Spray some lube in there from the top and bottom, and give it time to work in.

I also agree that your alternator may be dying. When the time comes, replace it AND the battery at the same time.

Impatient, the only reason we move these here is because there are some pretty big differences in the cars. Being in this section, you won't automatically be given advice based on the mistaken identity of your car.

For instance, a Park Avenue (or LeSabre if equipped) may post a climate control problem in the 92-99 section, and neglect to tell the folks in their topic that they have dual-zone. That can be a costly error in time and money when troubleshooting a problem.

Much the same, many LeSabre'* had different gear ratios, steering racks, etc. MANY electrical differences.

Being in this section, we automatically and instinctively note the make and model before dissecting problems.

DAMN glad to have you with us. If the trend keeps up, we may have to expand this section to pick up some more specifics.

ol timer, I had originally put it in the 1992 - 1999 forum.

willwren, glad to be here.

While i am glad fellow H-body owners will be able to help me, I will post whatever i can when I can contribute to repair stuff.

Altho luckily, my car has no serious problems. Only listed quirks.
