Default Cobra Jumpack

Does anyone have one of those Cobra Jumpacks? I was wondering if they really work....it'* just hard to imagine 200 CCA coming out of that small thing.....

If someone has one, how many jumps can you do with it? How long will it hold it'* charge?

I don't have any data on the newer jump packs, but the cheapest unit on Cobra'* website indicates a 6000mAH battery on board, and a Lithium Cobalt battery construction. Lithium Polymer batteries are known for their ability to have a low internal resistance, so they can dump a lot of power very quickly, and take a charge very quickly.

Assuming it can deliver the power it claims, 200amps will suck a 6AH battery dry in 108 seconds on just the math alone, so the thought of several jump starts is conceivable on a single charge.

Take a look on youtube for some reviews. I can recall several and I think others using similar technology seem to perform adequately.

Also keep in mind however, that heat kills batteries, especially Li-Po. So using it to jump cars, and keeping it in the car will likely take its toll on it.

I did a little research on battery packs and kept coming up with one of these as a best bet .

This what I am talking about:

It'* no bigger than an I-Phone.......the cables attach to it......

This can easily be stored in a center console or glove box, something you couldn't do with a regular jumper box....they have a 7500mah($80), and a 11,000 mah($129)........

I have read that they have to be fully charged to work......have also researched otherwise....what I have seen on YouTube are usually sellers, so it could be biased.....I did find one that didn't work.....but neither did a regular jumper box, too....

Just wondered if anyone out there had any experience with these, and if they are worthwhile buying....

It'* just a small battery pack with a lot of capacitors inside. Not worth the money IMO. You have to keep them plugged in all the time and if you forget to re plug them in, karma comes out.

They have had great marketing with their commercials.....

I have to laugh when I read their reviews, most people use it to charge their phones and haven't tried it on a car yet.....

It'* kind of a red flag when you don't get much info from those buying the product...

Major questions...how many jumps can you get out of one charge?

After a charge, how much capacity is retained over a period of time?

What is the limit for the state of a battery that can be jumped?
