Tune Up -Plug Wires Question
My 1997 has Pk Ave has 84 k and previous owner replaced spark plugs, but not the plug wires. Should I replace them with new ones now? What is the normal resistance factor /reading on these wires, anyone know?
I have a slight engine jiggle at idle, where engine does not remain steady like every 4 seconds it might shake slightly.
Should it go into shop onto a scope or what? ideas appreciated. NO engine lights all good there. New fuel filter installed and Techron additive & lucas fuel treatment to clean things out a bit in fuel right now.
Clean /spray the throttle body out? , has new air-filter.
Tune Up tips on the K 3800 appreciated. Thanks!

i think i would, i usually get about 100k average, but none of my cars have ever made it that many years before getting that much mileage. one thing to look for is corrosion on the coil terminals when you are changing them. and use dielectric grease when reinstalling

I have a new AC Delco 7mm wire for my 96 PA that I just checked and I see 3.92 to 3.95 ohm'*

I would replace them, even if only due to the fact you don't know when they were last replaced. x2 on the dielectric grease.

Ac Delco Iridium, or the NGK Iridium IX series TR55IX stock # 7164
.060 gap
I've always stuck with AC Delco'*, but have heard a lot of good reviews of these iridium IX plugs from NGK, so I'm going to try them the next time I change my plugs, I'll most likely stick with my AC Delco wires though, depends...

somewhere in the order of 4Kohms per foot is where i draw the line, though factory specs may be a bit looser, along 5-7K.

I thought that the Delco wires may have been 8mm so it is good to know the spec is 7mm.
I looked today at a set of NGK wires (blue) and they were also 7mm. Sure looked thin.
I was surprised that no wire loom clips were included with the new wires set.
Does any member have a photo of their wire set up, and how many looms are required?
I do not think that who ever installed the last set ever used them as they are all loose, without clips anywhere.

I think you can get 8mm AC Delco'*, I ordered what I ordered thinking they were 8mm, but they were only 7mm, I checked my AllData manual and the OE numbers were for 7mm plugs.
I may go 8.5mm MSD'* eventually, as I think the extra heat shielding would be a good thing.

i put the msd 8.5'* on my old 03 monte, they made it run really smooth and lasted a long time. only thing is they dont fit in the stock wire hold downs
