ok so I have a 2001 buick regal LS
did the new aluminum intake gaskets
just found out they have a water pump gasket like that to
I will be replacing the timing chain and gaskets
{seams to have a slight anti freeze leak}
most likely water pump shaft
and with 280k on it will replace timing chain
and guide ha ha most likely with that mileage can drive
a truck through the chain
but anyway is there a aluminum timing cover gasket?
that can be upgraded to?
this car is amazing we drive it like 750 miles a week
most reliable thing have ever seen

No there is not a alumnim Timing cover gaskets. The replacement is paper like stock.

The aluminum framed LIM Gaskets, Coolant Elbow, and Water Pump Gasket are good to have on there, are you going with the AC Delco Water Pump that goes with that aluminum framed water pump gasket?

are the water pumps different ?

The only difference I know of is the impellers, the old OE pumps used a cast iron impeller, which is said to move a bit more coolant than the stamped steel impellers, but I decided on going with stamped steel, because I think the cast iron ones have a higher chance at corroding, not that they are known to do so.
I am not a water pump expert, but I honestly think if you run a stock motor, you change your coolant out when you are supposed to, and have no HP adding upgrades, then the type of impeller should not really matter.
My old water pump made it to 135k, and I expect the new one to last just as long.

I went with the more expensive AC Delco WP, it comes with the aluminum framed gasket, what I find odd though is that is says " Stamped Steel Impeller GM Original Equipment", I could have sworn OE design was cast iron.

If money is tight you could always go with the cheaper one, as long as you service your coolant system regularly, then I don't see why it would not last, and while I am not totally positive, I don't see why you couldn't use the aluminum framed gasket with the cheaper pump.

If you want to learn more you can check out some of the links via this search, I did, and to me it sounds like it does not really matter what type of impeller the WP has.

so do any one now sell the cast iron impeller water pump ?

I am not sure which brands have the cast iron impeller, but I really don't think it matters, from what I read the only benefit with the cast iron impellers are a tad higher flow rate, which unless your car is modded to add HP, or you live/drive in an extremely hot area, then I doubt there will be much of a difference.
Some say the steel stamped impellers fit the pump better, so they actually flow faster than the cast iron, of course it is hard to tell which flows faster without testing both on a system that can monitor gallons per minute.
Also, from what I read faster flow is not always better, as the radiator needs time to pull the heat from the fluid.
The stamped steel impeller would be what I'd go with personally, as it will be less likely to ever corrode.
The best impeller IMO would be cut from billet aluminum, of course unless you drive a race car, that is not necessary.

i wonder if you can even get one if you wanted to everything is reboxed made in china i looked at 3 differnt brands of water pumps all had same casting numbers so guess what some poor guy in china that makes 1 dollar a day made it

A lot of AC Delcos parts, are made in China or Taiwan, the one I bought I believe was stamped Made In Taiwan, but it is still made pretty well from what I could tell.
