The whistle is very normal on the series 2 3.8 engines.

No it'* usually the air whistling past the throttle plate. I'm sure if it had a vacuum leak it would set a code.

It helped my 4t65-E without doubt, nice quick shifts now and eliminated the harsh ones, I highly recommend it. I got mine from triple edge performance which has everything you will need including the filter.

Yes, I was getting hard shifts after the transmission had warmed up, especially in city stop and go traffic. The Transgo shift kit itself includes springs and spacers that you use in the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator bores. Triple edge performance includes the Transgo kit, plus new piston O-rings, a new accumulator hard seal, a scuff pad, and a quality transmission filter. The only thing else you will need is Dex VI. Use a little transmission fluid on on the pad when scuffing the bores and compressed air to make sure every thing is squeaky clean before re-assembling.
