Service Stability System

Service Stability System
My dad has a 2001 Park Avenue Ultra. When he is driving down the road for no rhyme or reason the chime will sound and "SERVICE STABILITY SYSTEM" error will show up on the DIC. I called a dealer and they said it would cost $89 to diagnose. Also I am unsure if it is related but also occasionally the system will display "Tire Pressure Low" but when you check all the tires. The pressure is Ok. We reset and go from there. But the Tire Pressure error is very rare but the Service Stability system is all the time. Can anybody help or tell me what to say to a dealer so my dad doesn't have to auction his first born. LOL

Best I can suggest is to search the 200+ section for those things. I know I've seen something in that area regarding low tire pressure and the Stability system.

The steering position sensor has been the most commonly reported cause for the service stability system warning. This is a current thread in the 2000+ section that is likely caused by something else.

Sometimes hitting a sharp bump can trip the low tire pressure. Are you resetting that warning to where it shows the tire pressure as normal, or just hitting the reset when it goes off?
