1998 Century 3100 engine swap
I am going to attempt swapping my piston slapping, bottom end noise 3100 for a 3400 out of a 2001 Venture.
I bought the engine from a trusted supplier for $200. He changed the engine for a customer and the old one had 2 rocket studs pulled lose in the back head. The van owner just wanted a junk yard engine, so it was swapped. As happens with engines out of wrecked vehicles they had to re-use most of the brackets, the timing cover and oil pan. The rear head has been heli-coiled. 2 rocker arms off until I do intake gaskets. Don't want to run the bolts in and out until time to torque.
I was getting ready to do the swap before the January-February snow storms until the ignition went. Was going to swap the crank sensor the day of the first snow. Since then the car has been snowed in where I can't work on it. May get enough melt this week to break it free from the driveway.
