If your system is like the Pontiac, which I assume it is, sounds more like you're low on freon. Classic Pontiac symptom when you need a bump on the servicing with or without the dual climate control.

If you have dual zone climate control it could be the driver side blend door, but chances are Steve is right about it needing a freon charge. That'* where I would start.

If you suspect the drivers temp actuator is bad this is how I would approach it. Using a TECH II is the easiest way, but if you do not have access to one gain access to the actuator. Look at the center of it there will be the drive motor. Turn you temp **** cold to hot and back and see if it moves back and forth. If it does not move remove the connector wait a few seconds and plug it back in. This will cause the actuator to perform a learn sweep. Maybe it is out of calibration. If it does not move still more then likely its a bad actuator.

If you do change the driver side actuator, do yourself a favor and pull the driver seat when you work on it. Makes it a lot easier to lie on your back and work under there.

laying on you back while working up under the dash just sucks!! I would take out the seat too.

You guys have to learn to be contortionists, if you want to work on cars. That'll be the day I pull a heavy motorized seat of a customer'* car, risking scratching the interior to get to 2-5.5 mm screws....

And by the way, those screws are an odd size. You need a 5.5 mm socket.
