02 century radio, hvac door locks, and windows all stop working at once
hey all. problem with my moms century. ii noticed this when i was up there on the 4th but i didnt really think much of it. now that its cold up there its really starting to tick my mom off lol. she said it does it most often when turning on the heater or ac. this is a big problem for her because now that its getting cold ice is forming on the window in the mornings and with no heater half the time it makes it a pain to get to work. im thinking maybe the grounds in the front foot wells? my mother refuses to kick the snow off of her feet so from November to march that foot well is pretty damp...
ive got a super booked weekend ahead of me (28th-30th) so if anyone has any ideas please feel free to post em. she has no internet and my grandmother only has a wired connection so chances are i wont be on here much because i wont have the time to wire up the computer or use my phone.
thanks alot guys.

forgot to mention, everything will randomly start working if you play with the hvac ***** for awhile, but turning off the car and restarting it to get everything to work is hit or miss at best.

buicks have a bad rep. for wiring issues i would say you might have some bare wires around the heater box area under the dash make sure all the wires are clear of shudder servos and linkages make sure all of your fuses are good and that they are getting proper connections.

Maybe most of those problems have separate causes. When I got my Century in January, I had a problem that my hvac was on "a/c" no matter what the **** was set at. They changed the whose hvac controls, and that fixed the problem. The other problems, you should check the fuses in the passenger side dash fuse box. There might be a fuse or two blown.

well the thing is, it seems like its related to current draw... like the second you turn on te a/c it would cut off the radio windows and everything. the car would still run perfect. it happened to me while i was on the chicago skyway, and by the time i hit the indiana line everything had miraculously started working again... everything points to a bad ground to me... what im wondering is if anyone knows of a common fuse or junction point or ground all those things share maybe. im kindof at a loss lol.

Im not sure where the ground is for those things. I'll see if I can find something.
You can check the battery cables for corrosion at the battery and starter. Corrosion on the cables have been known to cause weird things..

i looked through the diagrams they dont have an electrically common point for ground or power, but the diagrams dont show physically were they are in the car maybe like mentioned earlier its wires rubbing together

maybe.. ill have to look when i get up there. i did just think of something...... the ignition switch fried itself last year and we had to replace it and the entire harness that its attached to. and where it connects, there are two other harnesses that slide in on either side of it. ill bet $20 one of them came loose cause i was afraid to tighten that bolt very tight at all.
