Default sigh. water in the trunk help please.

hey all. title pretty much says it all. wheel wells look fine. seal looks good. only thing i can imagine it might be isthe wire for my cb is letting water come in via surface tension, but its got such a tight seal it actually indents the seal for a few seconds after you open the trunk.

ill just post the pics and let you guys decide what you think it is. where the black is, on the paint in those 2 pics, ive noticed it was wet after it rained before but i also saw my tire shine bottle on its side so i thought it was leaking and dismissed it. this was before the cb.

its been about 5 days since the last rain.

Is that where the wire for your antenna sits? Try checking the lip there to see if it has been bent, as well as anywhere else where the weatherstripping seats.

it is, but the weatherstripping is super glued down or something. i thought the same thing and tried to pull it up. but it was glued so tight i figured there was no way in hell water could get past.

theres a chance of rain tonight and the trunk is still stripped bare. i think ill stick a few pieces of printer paper under that spot and over on the side and see if i get anything. hopefully its just the antenna wire so when we get a decent sized storm ill know to just take the antenna off.

i was out on the balcony having a cigarette and i noticed this big black spot i missed yesterday. its about right above and in front of the mount for the grocery net. i have no idea what could be leaking there. my quarter panel goes over like a full 6 inches past that spot.

Got a flashlight and a water hose? Get someone to get in the trunk with a flashlight, and spray water anywhere that you think it could be getting in. Might not be pleasant for someone claustrophobic, afraid of the dark, or if there is a big leak somewhere. lol

just spent a few bucks at the self serve. this is the result of a power washer directly in the crack for over a minute. i think im just gonna buy some silicone and weather stripping for windows to glue to the actual lid lol.

well for anyone looking in the future, i think i found the culprit.

i followed the trail of mold with my finger. found a stopping point, and shoved my big *** head in the 1/4 panel. and i saw light! lol. turns out whoever did the body work on my car before i owned it and replaced the 1/4 panel decided a thick coat of paint substituted as panel sealer. they were wrong. heres pics.

Well, I'm on my phone at laurens work. Drove here in the rain. Leak isn't gone. It looks like its running down the corner floor up to the taillights corner from behind the shock tower. Guess I'm pulling the back seat tomorrow for a better view. . Soooo frustrated

I have that problem, and a few others have as well, it is the seals around your break lights, there are two side ones, and two foam like ones you have to replace, you need to take the break light housing out, parts total are around 120.00 or so from a dealership, you also need something to put back on the bolts when you put the brake light assembly back in, silicone should work fine.

I tried silicone instead of the gaskets and mine still leaks a bit, I'll post pics of mine, and the parts you need in a few minutes.
