Default 02 buick century ignition VATS

I have 02 buick lost only key, went thru hell finally had it towed went to dealership he pulled VIN and ordered #13 key, it goes in the ignition and activates the ding dong ding dong but nothing else sothing on display just dinging ,it wont turn the lock, so the dealrship says it must be replacement ignition so how do i get a ket to it, and does the pellet value on the car its self ever change, i thought maybe i could order new ignition and have key cut to #

Have a lock smith do it.

Yeah, the "pellet" is probably the same, but a locksmith would be necessary to figure out the pinning of the lock cylinder and cut the key properly.

Then, when you have that done, have the locksmith cut an ignition key that is not a chip key. Keep this key in your glove box or somewhere else easily accessible and then if you lose the next key you'll have the cut available without a locksmith.

The 'resistance' or stored value does not change. The pellets inside these keys are just simple resistors. The security module looks for a certain resistance value and allows the car to start.

You could get a new lockset from the dealer with the correct pellet. Again, this will cost some money because the entire lock with have to be changed out.
