Unhappy Im stuck in park!!!!!

Ok I have a 97 buick regal gs, and its stuck in park I canot shift into any other gear. The car cranks up just fine both of my brake lights are working I mean i dont know whats the problem. ok this how it all started my power sterring pump gave out well the bolt inside my power sterring pulley broke off the car ran hot thats when the anti lock light came on and the security light came on. so I went and got a new power sterring pump and pulley put it on and i thought that would solve the problem well it didnt only diffrence is that the anti lock and security light went off but its still stuck in park and want shift out of gear the car cranks right on up its just stuck could someone anyone please HELP ME!!!! out on this one ,Thanks

To the right of the shifter is a little blockoff plate that says something like "shift lock" next to it. Remove it and push down with a screw driver or thin item with your foot on the brake, key on and try to move the shifter. Should work for you.

NP. When you have a chance. Pull the console (we both know how much fun that is..lol) and check on the white lever piece. I had an issue pop up with mine and pulled the white lever off. It'* worked great since then. I'm pretty sure the lever is the piece being moved to get it out of lock, but hey.. who am I to argue with working.

Well, I have the same problem with my column shifter ['96 LeSabre]. Sometimes I can't get it out of park. Yes, I have my foot on the brake and the engine is running. There'* an interlock somewhere that'* not working.
