With my modifications, do I have anything to worry about as far as pre-ignition due to hotter combustion temperatures with egr disabled, or is this not an issue for 3800'*?

Not a problem, if anything, it will cool the charge down a little.

Actually, EGR gasses cool the combustion temp down.

I deleted my EGR on my largeport swapped 3100 in my 96 CS without an issue. I was even running 11 degrees ignition timing over stock on 92 octane without KR. My cruise advance was around 40 degrees with no KR.

As long as the AFR doesnt shoot lean, then I dont see an issue with it causing KR or killing a valve.

This engine is just a bundle of joy!

I took the EGR tube off, and it didn't look cracked. Then I slid the mounting bracket back a little bit, and noticed that it had a crack half way around the tube right. Excellent.

So I blocked it off with a piece of aluminum and copper RTV.

I then turned the car on, and noticed that I still had a problem. A bit confused, I sprayed some more carb cleaner thinking I didn't do a good enough job. Every time I sprayed it, the engine'* RPM would rise and I'd run rich.

So I did something new; I sprayed around the throttle body gasket, and it got sucked in instantly. Awesome...

Turns out whoever worked on this engine before had replaced the throttle body gasket, but failed to scrape off all of the old gasket from the throttle body. There was a 2" long strip of old gasket stuck to the new one, causing a gap in the throttle body. I had to drive out to some napa who knows where to get a replacement gasket, fired it up, and had a perfect idle at 700 rpm for the first time.

Yeah, I had every vacuum leak imaginable. All the vacuum hoses were rotted, the EGR pipe was cracked, and the throttle body gasket was leaking! Excellent!

At least now it runs great, and I can start VE tuning and calibrating the MAF.

I wonder what jackass forgot to scrap rest of that TB gasket away

Now that I remember, that was a 4am escapade on that car. Took the TB off, didnt have my gasket scraper so I figured I would do it the next day. Well, I put the TB back on for mockup when I was clearencing the cable bracket and never remembered that I didnt clean all the old gasket off...

It'* all about learning. We all make mistakes and miss stupid things. I still hold the record. I removed my transmission and rebuilt it, because of a blown fuse.
