Hello guys,
I am trying to remove the tail light assembly from 2001 Buick la sabre. In order to do that I need to remove a cable attached to the key lock cylinder. The cable is attached to a piece of plastic which is attached to the cylinder. It seems like it should just pull off but I'm not having any luck.

I would appreciate any suggestions

Never mind guys. after closer examination I didn't have to take cable off. Just unplug wiring harness. Thanks anyway

What were you fixing?

I removed my lamp last weekend to replace the left b/up bulb. It'* recommended all bulbs be replaced while you're in there, but I just got my new ratchet set and am kinda hoping another bulb will go out so I can play with it again

The lens was coming loose from the trim assembly and water was getting in. I needed to get the lens off, clean out the groove where the sealant was, and reseal. I wanted to have the assembly off the car so I could lay it flat while new sealant was curing. Been putting it off for awhile but after recent monsoon It was full of water.

Both the Pk Ave & the Lesabre require taking the 10 nuts off, and disconnect the harness to remove the whole light assembly. Sure cant change one bulb too easily on these cars.
I had to seal around my lights too. I also noticed that there are sealing washers in the light bulb sockets. One of mine was torn and mega moisture was getting in there.
I replaced all the bulbs at once, to ensure they were all new.
It is all fixed up now, have not had any problems since using a marine polyurethane sealant.

One of the previous owners of my car probably had the same problem. When I lift the trunk lid, I can see an overflow of clear sealant along the inner edge of my RH Tail Lamp (qtr pnl).

I,t hadn't occurred to me until you and John1 mentioned changing lamps, but I have never replaced a tail light on this car in the 13 years and 257,000 mi I've
had it. In fact, I can only remember changing 1 headlight. I wish GM made gaskets and power window regulators that good.

Except for my 2000 Silverado'* driving light bulbs (which seemed to go out monthly like clockwork), not a one of my cars before my current 2001 LeSabre ever gave me a lick of trouble with any lamps. That'* gotta be a record of some kind.
