97 Buick Regal Won't Start (Cold?)
I have a 97 Buick Regal GS that won't start randomly. Seems to be when it'* cold outside (25 degrees or less-ish). When I turn the key, all I hear is a single click from the fuse box near the passenger door. There is no cranking. I also see the Security light flashing. Usually after enough attempts (I don't try too many too fast so I don't kill my starter) it will start up, after about 5-20 minutes of trying. Also, sometimes while driving the Security light will come on and stay on. If the car is running, and I shut it off, when I turn the key again (but don't crank it) the Security light is no longer flashing. This makes me think it'* a problem with the PASS-II/VATS system, but I am unsure as I've read elsewhere that if that were the problem then it would attempt to crank while starting. Any ideas/suggestions?

As I recall the car should crank, start and die for 97 with bad VATS. You have VATS btw.
I think your problem is battery or battery cable from teh sound of it.

Don't think it'* the battery. I'm starting to rule out cold being the issue. I started my car this morning (about 32 outside), let it run in the driveway to warm up for about 15 minutes to clear some ice and fog from the windshield. Drove it about 5 minutes to get gas. Turn my car off while I fill up and when I go to turn it back on, doesn't crank. I waited about 2-5 minutes tried again, no go. Tried about 3 more times and it cranked on the third. Again, this morning when I first cranked it no security light. When it didn't crank, flashing security light.
