Default door mech problem.

I too have a driver'* door unlocking problem. It'* a 1997 Buick Park Avenue: The doors will lock with the automatic button inside the car, but the driver door will not unlock with the key, which is all we use. We don't use the key-chain control device. I can unlock the passenger door with my key and start the engine and then I can unlock the driver door with the unlock button inside the driver'* door. I fully charged the battery to see if it might be low voltage, but apparently it was not a lack of electrical current. Any suggestion what might be my problem? Thanks! i guess if it doesnt feel like there is anything going on when you turn it you are going to have to see if the lock mechanism is still attached on the back. you maybe able to separate the rubber window seal enough to see but if not have to take the door apart

If the actual key isn't working it has nothing to do with the electronics. Your going to need to remove the door panel and inspect the door lock cylinder and the door latch assy. I'm betting the rod that goes from the door lock cylinder to the latch has popped loose some how.

Thanks jwfirebird!

I guess what I need to do is take it to my mechanic to troubleshoot and repair...was just hoping it might be something simple since it works from the inside when the engine is running...
