Extending Oil Life Now At 16%
Thanks to Covid most auto part shops are closed around here.I normally drive across USA border to buy the HM Max life oil (much cheaper) but the darn borders are still closed.
Everyone has horded all the 10w-30 HM Valvoline big jugs around here. Even Wallworld only has 1 liter bottles at 15$ each ! Ridiculous !
I have never let the oil life monitor go this far, as I normally change it by 25%.
Anyways, I am happy to report the Buick is liking my filter & oil combo, and do you think I'm still good for a while longer??
Or should I just change it now with a 5L jug of Castrol or something?

Oil life is based on some asinine algorithm data from fuel consumed, engine idling, miles etc. So for all you know, your oil life could be -25% or 50%.
Next time you hop the border, shoot down here and have a case or 2 of beer with me.

Well I guess I'm good until the border re-opens hopefully in the next month or so then.
During the 30 hour drive one way, I'd have to have a Kegerator !
I Know it'* real hot there & by the time I got there... I'd be super thirsty !

I think you're good. I don't see pitch black in that oil.
One of the reasons to do good maintenance on a car is so that when you do have to stretch things, it'* not as big of a deal.

Of course the next question is what happens when it hits 0 % .??
Does it go ding & then remind you in the digital display and state..
"Hey Moron Change Your Oil" ??

It will probably show that you need an oil change.
Drive it till it does and see what happens, then we will know.

I think it says "CHANGE OIL SOON" on it'* DIC.
If there are other messages competing for attention, I believe it will cycle through them a few seconds at a time then repeat until you manually clear them. It/they will show up again at the next start cycle.

Haven't been driving car much lately. The oil & filter now changed @ 4000 miles.
Also added Lube Guard bio-tech engine treatment.
I got tired of the annoying messages every time you start the car.
Next time I might just reset the oil monitor and go another 10% before a change, as long as it stays clean.
