The 98 Buick Century was cooling bet the compressor sounded like a hammer was keeping time with a fast beat.

I turned off the compressor. Got a good on from pull apart. Flushed the coil and condenser with acetone and denatured alcohol.

After cleaning the evap and condenser I replaces with used hoses and compressor. Thought I did a good job. 2 weals later the used compressor started to tap. Not hammer tap but I new to take it back and get the best I could that'd work.

Here is a picture of the brand new orifice I put in.


New one on the left and it;* full of tiny metal particles. So I did it all over again and put a filter in front of the orifice. There are a couple to choose from
and i didn't take any pictures as i west but here'* one that you can just make out.

I am even ready to replace everything again (except the condenser and evaporator.) if needed.

I know this is a poor write-up. I lost the xD card that went in my old camera so those are phone pictures and taken after I finished the 2nd time.

The most I have invested is the use compressor, r34a @ 8 a can and the filter for 49.00.

I do NOT believe in letting r34 into the environment. If this is helpful to someone great.

I will say for a long time the vents on the passenger side were much cooler than the drivers side, and i made an incorrect assumption I was having trouble with the blend door. It is a sign you are low on ac coolant which carries the oil throughout the system. Also be careful you don't ruin your test valves by running your ***** down far enough to damage the test ports.

I also think i formatted my pictures too large.

Sounds like u got a used compressor from the wreckers?
I would start with a new rebuilt one with a new clutch only. Most compressors when they fail do introduce small metal particles into the system and seals fail quickly.
Most professional AC shops will flush then, also install a quality in-line filter to trap such particles.
It is also important to have the correct rated psi on both low and high side and introduce the correct oil into the system as lubricant.
I always simply find a good shop that has the AC machine and gauges and let them flush, install filter, after a new compressor install.
Then I know it is done right, I would not trust the refrig in a can. They are only for topping up a system.
