Default Changed wheel bearing now ABS light comes on ??

Ok changed the right side front wheel bearing now my abs light comes on. After I shut car off it stays off for sometimes 30 miles thn comes back on,

2 ?'*

1) do I need it off to pass NYS inspection ?? I dont think it matters

2) I have it plugged in should I just unplug and hit it with the air gun and replug ??

If it still doesnt go out I will call where I got it and see if they will replace it, I suppose it could be something else but unlikely seeing as it just happened after the bearing chg

I dont really care for abs anyway but....

How did you come to the conclusion it was the Right Front Bearing ??

Did you block test it ??

Check the wire about 6 inchs from the plug chances are its split !

Lucky you, I made a test write up a short time ago. https://www.gmforum.com/trouble-shooting-test-procedures-141/wss-wheel-spin-sensor-test-296556/

well I chgs the left side and the noise was still there. I jacked up the right side amd it had some play at 12:00/6:00 and at 3:00/9:00 so I chgd it and the noise was gone. Car has 200k on it so I figured they would need changing soon anyway.

The wire coming off the new hb looks fine, its mot even 6" long, where are you saying I should look ??

Im tempted to just leave it alone and drive it...I will probably sell it in another 20k anyway

With a WSS not working you will not have ABS or traction control.

Yea I know, that traction control is a pain in the a&& last week I couldnt make it up a hill till I shut it off, the snow was about 5" deep !

I drove cars for many years with no abs or traction control.

I will pull the wheel tomorrow and check the connection..If it satys on I may rplace it with an exchanged hub...Its funny it goes out after shutting the car off and sometimes stays off for 30 miles and the traction control and abs is working...

It could be a failing sensor. I changed the hub on my wifes truck and the sensor failed less then 4 months after I put it on.

I think the sensor is built into the hub because all there is is one wire set coming off the hub and it connects to a plug behind the wheel ??

Well I went up this morning and pulled the wheel off and took the plug apart and there was ice/water in there, must be when I chgd it from sliding it thru the axle hole. I dried it out with a heat gun and sprayed it out with air real dry, sprayed wd40 on it to displace any water, re air sprayed it and put it together and it seems ok now. I would assume this could cause the problem right ??

Yes that could cause a problem... Also the harness that plugs into the WSS is known to cause the same issue, if a wire is broken

Yep, that would do it. Salt will really cause problems.
