Default 93 l67 3800 sc ecu Q'*

well first off ima say hi since this is my first post. ive been readin a lot here, but i thought id register cuz ive a lil prob, hoping to find some advice.

ive got a project goin with a 90 grand prix. it had a pos quad 4. i acquired a 93 l67 from an olds 98. the guy i got it from cut the eng harness and junked the pcm. i got a harness from a scrap yard from a 93 regal. unfortunately the regal had no brain in it. i then got a pcm for a 93 regal. but my main problem is...

what prom do i use? the prom from the c and h bodies are very different. the earliest w body with the sc 3800 was a 95 g. prix. but thats was series 2. and obd 2. i dont wanna mess with that.

is there another prom id that will work?

will the L eng regal prom work for the I eng?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
-Samuel

welcome to the club....

you will need to get a SC harness and the regal never had the L67 motor so you will be missing a few improtant connectors

and the W body never got the L67 untill 97

you will want to use a SC PCM, but what are you gonna do about the trans.....you may want to get a 93 trans so the PCM knows what is going on.....or you will have a cudtom burn to run the trans

the pcm in the bonnevilles was inside the car. i have a pcm and the interior dash wiring with the connectors. unfortunately, i just junked the engine wiring harness I had for my 93 parts car.

sry, i left the trans out of the equation. i got the 4l60 that came out of the 93 olds. original with the car and engine.

and i spoke with a guy at the dealer, and he said first w body sc 3800 was a series 2 in the 95 grand prixs. the first regal with the sc 3800 was the 97s.

and as far as the difference on the harnesses, ther are only a few. everything was exactly the same except the egr functions. both egrs are a 3 solenoid digital egrs. the n/a uses all 3 solenoids. the sc only uses 2. and the 3rd is replaced by the boost solenoid. what im not sure of is does egr valve#1 = egr A. 2=B, and does 3=C?

so can i just hook up the wire from the egr , to the boost solenoid? is the boost solenoid used under high or low rpm'*?
and the fuel pump is rated for 45 psi, is that sufficient?

sorry sam your guy at the dealer is dead wrong....the GTP was a total redesign on 97 and that redesign was the first time that a Supercharged engine was put into the W body and this was the Series 2 L67....the regal also came out in 97.5 as they are known, with a redesign and also got the L67 Series 2

grand prix was 97 also for Series 2 l67.

anyways, i'd probably pick up a service manual for that year motor to get some of the necessary wiring. it should have the L27 info too since they came with them as well.

yeah u guys are 100 correct. i checked the computer at work today and the 95s had the 3.4. 97 was the first sc w bodies. i guess i shoulda trusted my instinct, cuz i thought it was 97 also. its just that i figured a guy at the dealer in front of a computer would know better than I. guess not.

and as far as the prom goes. there is no stock prom that is meant for the regal ecu i have.

i found a company that reprograms proms for higher performance. i e-mailed them my situation tonight. so i hope they can just re-flash the l27prom to run the l67.

At the request of the author, here is the content from the locked thread:

hey guys, im gettin a lil further with the project in my sig, heres a link if u need more info http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=64607

ive got all the engine sensors soldered. ive got about half of the trans sensors soldered. but im a lil lost on a couple wires. the round trans connector on the front driver side has a couple wires im not sure what to do with. also 5 wires coming off the trans position/neutral safety switch.

off the round 7 pin trans connector...
pin A-
pin E-
pin C-

on the trans pos switch...

lt grn/ blk stripe
pink/ blk stripe
orn/ blk stripe
solid blk
lt grn
any one know where these go? i searched on all data at my local library, but couldnt find a pinout of either. found a schematic of each, but not all wires are covered. little confused.

so i got my g.p. on the road finally. well sort of. the guy who re-flashed the prom, forgot to adjust the gear ratio for the trans. so it shifted a lil funny. but it is in the mail back to him. cant wait to get it back.

ill have to post some updated pics.

if any one is putting a 3800 in a w body, feel free to send a pm if any questions arise.
