hey ya'll. so since ive moved back to indiana and my compressor has stopped kicking on, my car riding low in the rear has become alot more evident. for instance, if i have 1 passenger, i have to brake at the top of our 6" speed bump and crawl down it to avoid dragging in the rear. so heres my thought feel free to tell me im nuts if its dumb.

instead of shelling out the cash for a new compressor, or risk having to get under a junkyard car chop off the exhaust that im sure is perma melted or dryrotted to the rubber mounts and not even know how long it will last, i was thinking i would run the lines into the trunk, hook up a schrader valve to them and air them up with either my jump box/pump or if it was dead use any gasstation compressor.

now i know what you are thinking. 'even if he does that, how does he avoid overpressurizing and busting the shocks?'

that brings me to my other idea. since the microswitch on the trailing arm still works, and when it is too low gives out voltage, i plan to wire up an led in the trunk, or possibly in the rear deck so ill see it in the mirror. whit this setup, ill know to stop filling as soon as the light goes out.

my question to you all is how do i go about attaching those 2 super thin hoses to one schrader valve? are the parts even available? if so some links would be greatly appreciated so i dont look as stupid as i am now when i walk into whatever store.

i went ahead and attached a pic so you can see just how low it hangs in the rear

ak-29 at amazon or most any parts store. i just fill mine till its just higher than the front with no junk in the trunk and with new struts i only have to change it once every 4-5 months when the temps really change

thanks alot for the info. ill have to hop on that this weekend... after i fix the door handle that broke yet again.

Door Handles on these seem to be flimsy, one of my complaints about these cars. I always feel like I'm going to bust it off in the wintertime. Fortunately a trip to the junk yard can score one of these with a few tools for about $5, as long as they have a PA in there.
